Ajax Security System For Crestron and Crestron Home

img.png

Ajax Security Systems are advanced wireless alarm systems known for their sleek design, reliability, and encrypted communication. They offer motion, door, glass break, and smoke detection. When integrated with Crestron systems, they enable unified smart control—triggering lighting, AV, or alerts—creating a seamless, responsive, and secure building automation experience.

Licence

This driver comes with a 30-day trial license, which requires a licence key from our web store.

Solution Architectural Overview

Initial Connection

The LCD software, once installed, uses provided Ajax Cloud credentials (via your Developer account) to query Ajax’s cloud API. Once it has verified the credentials and permissions, It fetches all Areas and Zones (known as Groups and Devices in Ajax terminology).

Control

All control of the Ajax Hub is via Ajax Cloud server which relays commands to the local Hub

Feedback / Status

Feedback of changes in device or Area Status does not come via the Ajax Cloud API. This is achieved using a local TCP connection leveraging the SIA System monitoring functionality on the Ajax Hub.

The software listens for TCP connections on port 53000 and uses a configuration file to match devices to the status updates coming in from the hub.

End-User Experience

  • The Ajax security system driver supports arming/disarming and independent zone bypass.
  • System status is shown on the UI.
  • A tile is added to the Home screen. By default, it is named "Security System", but multiple systems will display their descriptive names.
  • Opening the tile shows:
    • Partition page
    • Zone list with names and current statuses
  • Users can bypass/un-bypass zones with the Bypass button (requires passcode).
  • Arming/Disarming requires a press-and-hold action until the circle fills, then passcode entry.

Installing the Driver

Find the driver at:

Drivers -> Security System -> Ajax

Upon adding the driver, you will be prompted to set up:

  • Ajax Hub ID (found in Ajax App → Hub Information → Device ID)
  • Ajax account username
  • Ajax account password

💡 A system reboot is required after changing any user attributes.

Create a dedicated Ajax user account for Crestron Home:

  1. Go to Ajax App → Active Users
  2. Use Send Invites to invite a new user (the Crestron system)

Pin Codes

  • Two static pin codes can be set:
    • One for arming/disarming
    • One for device bypass
  • These are authenticated locally in the driver, not via Ajax.

Ajax App: Setting Up Groups

  • Groups = Areas in Crestron
  • In Ajax App:
    • Go to Settings
    • Enable Activate Group Mode
    • Add devices to groups to show them in Crestron areas

SIA Protocol Integration

  • Uses Ajax Hub’s Monitoring Station feature to report system state via SIA protocol.

Cannot be used simultaneously with a monitoring service.

Ajax App Setup:

Navigate to:

  • Hub Settings → Monitoring Station
  • Or: Hub Settings → Security Companies

Settings:

  • Primary IP: IP of Crestron Home Processor
  • Port: 53002 (default)
  • Connect on Demand: True
  • Object Number: AAA

Crestron Home SIA ID Setup

For proper status updates, complete device ID configuration during commissioning.

Option 1: Name Devices Temporarily

  1. In the Ajax App, add {Device No} to each device name
  2. Load the driver → it reads and stores Device No
  3. Once setup is complete, you can remove {Device No} from the names

Example: WaterWater {1}

Option 2: Manually Edit Config File

  1. Download config from Crestron processor
  2. Add missing Device No entries
  3. Re-upload file
  4. Reboot system

Config File Location:

/user/Data/ThirdParty/LCD/LCDCHOMEAJAXSECURITY/Configs/SiaData.json

Reboot Required

  • Reboot required:
    • After adding/modifying groups/devices
    • After changing settings

Device Setup

  • Ajax Devices appear as Zones in Crestron
  • Report: Faulted, Tampered, Missing, OK, Low Battery
  • All zones default to OK on first setup; previous fault states will not display until cleared

Always Active Devices

  • These devices trigger on all activations
  • Note: May cause alarms even during entry/exit delays
